The Tenderloin Museum is happy to host Chlo & Co Dance for the company’s biannual show, Drove, which will be developed and performed in conversation with TLM artist-in-residence Deirdre Weinberg’s Living Memory in the TL. The dancers’ performance will respond to Weinberg’s sprawling, richly detailed map-mural of scenes, faces, and places in the TL. The founders of Chlo & Co Dance, Courtney King and Chloë Zimberg, share an interest in social justice; they designed their company’s Drove series to be highly collaborative projects that use movement to amplify the presence and impact of their partners’ visions. For the fifth iteration of Drove, King and Zimberg chose the theme of “preservation,” which serves as the conceptual entry point to Weinberg’s visual investigations of memory and representation as (im)perfect modes of preservation. This collaborative spirit shows in the diverse array of participants in Drove V, including the Bellwether Dance Project, Malia Byrne, Michael D. Lee, pateldanceworks, and requisitedance. Many have connections to the Tenderloin; learn more about the individual participants in the bios below. Drove V performances will occur twice (Friday November 2nd and Saturday November 3rd at 6:30p). In addition, Chlo & Co Dance will join Weinberg in the Tenderloin Museum for her SF Open Studios weekend (October 13th and 14th from 1pm - 4pm)--these open rehearsals will invite the public to witness the artists’ process as this original work takes shape.
