Calligraphy, or the art of writing, was the visual art form prized above all others in traditional China. Calligraphy is not only an art, but it also helps soothes the mind. It is meditative as you work on one stroke at a time. It also helps with creativity while learning something new! Join us for our monthly calligraphy event! From the beginning, emperors asserted their authority for posterity via calligraphy as well as for the present by engraving their own pronouncements on mountainsides and on stone stelae erected at outdoor sites. In pre-modern China, whose main currency was the written word, came to assume the dominant positions in government, society, and culture. Today, you get to experience all that, meet new friends, and relax! Come by for an awesome new experience. We will teach Chinese Calligraphy as well as serving snacks, tea, and beer. No previous Chinese experience required!
