Spaces are limited, so don’t miss your chance about the role of domestic coalitions in building the groundswell of climate action! The global climate action movement is growing and gaining traction. However, if we are to usher the new era of decarbonization and prosperity called for by the Global Climate Action Summit, global ambition needs to translate into greater local action. The climate action movement urgently needs to build more roots in nations around the world. The event will highlight the catalytic role that domestic alliances of companies, local and subnational governments, academia and civil society—together known as non-Party actors— can play in accelerating climate action and championing opportunities for higher ambition in line with 1.5C that directly address domestic development needs. Representatives from the private sector, local government, academia and civil society in Japan, Mexico, Argentina and South Africa will address why growing the base of climate action at the domestic level is needed, what role national multi-stakeholder coalitions can play to support NDC implementation and enhancement, and how domestic actors are joining forces in key geographies – through domestic coalitions and the global network called Alliances for Climate Action (ACA) - to build the global groundswell of climate action.
